TCS to go Global through NY Marathon

The New York Road Runners(NYRR) has selected Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) as the title sponsor of the New York city Marathon beginning next year.this is the most popular Marathon in the world For the next eight years TCS will be the title sponsor of this Marathon .it's also the biggest marathon in the world with 50,000 runners.

In an interview with CNBC-TV 18 Chandrasekaran, MD & CEO, TCS and Mary Wittenberg ,Press & CEO with CNBC's Senthil and Menaka Doshi.

Q: Amsterdam and New York. what are you getting from these title sponsorship?

Chandrasekaran:
From the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) point of view we are very committed to health and wellness. We have young workforce. We have 295,000 professionals of an average age of 27-28 years. All the communities in which we operate, whether , United States or Latin America or any part of the world,we want to promote health and wellness. We think that is fundamentally important even for students to study well and a lot of health activities, we have the TCS Fit for Life which now has everyone in the campany registered. This year would be running at least 5 million kilomiters.

Q: what do you expect it to do for your customers?

Chandrasekaran:
It will definitely promote the brand. it is the best possible way to get known. TCS is extremely well known in the client base in the enterprise world, but we are not as well known at the public at large.

Q: why is this important ?

Chandrasekran:
As we become larger and larger, it is very important for people to know what we stand for ,because people come across TCS all the time. We have large number of professionals everywhere.

Q: is it just money that you take towards TCS or it is something more?

Wittenberg:
We were are looking for a year-round partner. we have plenty of opportunity to work with the number of different companies. For us most important was a partner who that wanted to help us wlwvate the health and well being of whole communities through running that wanted to take advantage of our global brand and plateform. for us er are really big on the potential that technology offers to help us get a lot of people moving in healther and fitter. So, this is really an ideal marriage and what it does for TCS in addition is a company who is selling services to CEOs, CTOs and CIOs around the world . it is not only it is important global in nature. There is a lot of tehnology that goes into running a major marathon and  in when people see that we become the most techonologically advanced marathon in  the world and that we have a lot more people running. Partnership with TCS will help us do that and that makes for a great cause for TCS.
